NEW REVISED NATIONAL BIRD LISTING BY BCST RECORDS COMMITTEE- November 2008 Roughly thirty species of birds have been added since the BCST published listing of the Thai bird fauna in year 2000 ( many more when recent taxonomic revisions are taken into account). At present, we consider that 996 species of birds are known from the country.This listing is only a partial revision as, like its predecessor, it still largely follows the Sibley and Monroe sequence. This has the advantage, though, that it is already familiar to most Thai users. We therefore prefer to wait for a more definitive revision of the taxonomic sequence before we depart from it.
